I’m not sure if anybody reads this anymore.
But I’m “home.” In America, at least.
It’s strange.
Everything here is so different. The same, but different.
It’s really depressing to be here.
That’s really the only way I can put it.
I’m been packing for the past 12 hours, and I’ve realized something:
I’m a hoarder.
Hahaha.
So anyways, this might possibly be my last post until I come home… I’m not sure. I might also write something in the airport, and maybe at my second host family’s house, if I have time.
Tomorrow we leave for the Baltic Sea (now referred to as Ostsee). I’m really excited. I’ll be with my three best friends for the next week, and I’m definitely not bringing my computer. Just my camera, so expect a lot of pictures! :)
So. This is possibly goodbye.
Well, “see you later” actually.
*insert accent* I’ll be back.
I got 100 euros from a Rotarian yesterday…
Now I actually have a legit good amount of money. :D
I’m happy.
P.S. I come home in 12 days, so don’t get on my butt about not writing. These are my last 12 days, they will be spent how I like, and you can wait until I come home to hear all the stories.
I know you guys won’t understand this song, because it’s in German…
but this song makes me think of my two lives, the German one and the American one. It sort of explains my “relationship” with Germany…
and it just makes me sad.
15 days left.
1) Shut the light off, open windows, and be blind in the dark
2) Turn the light on, close windows, suffocate from the heat
3) Turn the light on, open windows, be able to see, be able to breathe, but get attacked by mosquitos.
Have fun with your choices.
I miss air conditioning.
So I finally broke down and went to H&M to buy a pair of shorts. The shorts I wanted to buy are 30 euros.
I made a money calculation mistake, and realized that I had only 20 euros.
Well…
crap.
So then I went into H&M anyway, determined to find a pair of shorts so I wouldn’t have to walk around in a skirt every time it got hot (the only thing I have that is knee-length is a skirt).
When I walked into H&M, the first thing I noticed was the massive racks of clothes screaming “SALE!”
Win.
So I started looking through everything, hoping to find a pair of shorts for a reasonable price.
Well, I found my shorts. The 30 euros pair.
They were 10 euros.
Double win.
I bought two. Black and red (red feels a little crazy, but I’m trying it).
Twenty euros. Two pairs of shorts. Ten euros less than the original price for one.
I rock.
:D
It is currently 87 degrees, and only 11 am. It’s probably going to hit 91 degrees.
For you Visalians, that doesn’t seem bad.
Now consider this:
1) There’s no such thing as air conditioning in Germany. So when it gets hot, the house gets hot, and the only way of cooling your room down is to open a window. And that really doesn’t do anything but let more hot air into your room.
2) We have 58% humidity at the moment. Even though that’s higher than Visalia’s humidity level, that is a miracle for us. Normally we’re running 80-95% humidity. I suppose it could be worse.
My host mom doesn’t really want me to do anything today. This is because yesterday, it was 85 degrees and I got a headache and a stomachache after being in the sun for awhile. That’s because I’m not used to the heat anymore, and because I was forced to walk around in jeans (rolled up, but still jeans). I don’t have any shorts.
Today I have to do a bunch of stuff, though. I’ve got to go to the train station and drop off an application, go to Müller Markt and buy some stuff (notebook and personal items), and finally H&M to buy a pair of shorts before I die.
Once I do that stuff, I’m going to sit in the backyard with my new Kindle (an electronic book-reader, it can hold 4000 books!!) in a pair of badminton shorts and tanktop. I shall read and attempt to get tan while drinking gallons of blueberry juice (apparently it’s American week in Aldi… I don’t know of any Americans who drink blueberry juice).
Today is a lazy day. I don’t have many days left here, so this is a sacrifice.
I know a Visalian will want to shoot me.
It’s HOT here.
Seriously. We’re all getting sunburnt and sweating all over the place and staying indoors because it’s so hot.
It is currently 79 degrees.
Please don’t kill me.
But really, it is hot for us. It’s hot for me. Not as bad as for them, but it’s still hot. After two weeks of 50-55 degrees weather, the 80 degrees and 80% humidity are killing me. We went outside for 1 hour to play a game and get some ice cream, and everybody’s wiped out because of the heat.
I know that right now, you Visalians would be killing for 80 degrees. But view from my perspective, and you’ll see what I mean. The other problem is that I currently have no shorts and not really enough money to buy some, so I’m kind of stuck with my long jeans right now. Lovely.
I’m off to go drink something (it won’t be cold, Germans hate cold drinks) and lay on my bed and do absolutely nothing.
